Blind Transfer
A call transfer that connects a caller to another extension or number immediately, without the transferring agent speaking to the recipient first.
A blind transfer (also called a cold transfer) routes an active call to another destination — extension, phone number, ring group, or voicemail — without the transferring agent first consulting with the receiving party. The caller is placed on hold momentarily and then connected to the new destination. If the destination doesn't answer, the call typically goes to voicemail or rolls over based on configured rules.
Blind transfers are faster than warm transfers and work well for straightforward routing situations where no briefing is needed — for example, directing a caller from the main line to a specific department's extension. However, they carry the risk of sending a caller to an unavailable agent or leaving them without context at the other end.
Best practice is to use blind transfers for simple internal routing and warm transfers for complex, sensitive, or escalated situations. Zonitel's active panel supports both transfer types and shows real-time availability indicators so agents can see which extensions are free before transferring.
