How number porting works
You gather the account details. We coordinate the rest with your current provider.
Submit your port request
Tell us your number(s) and current provider. We'll send the Letter of Authorization (LOA) for the account holder to sign.
We handle the paperwork
Zonitel submits the port request to your current provider and tracks it. If a detail needs fixing, such as a PIN or address, we tell you exactly what to correct.
Carrier processes the port
Porting commonly takes 5–10 business days and varies by carrier. Keep the old service active until the scheduled cutover.
Your number goes live on Zonitel
On the confirmed date, calls start ringing on Zonitel with your routing and voicemail already set up. Test calls first; texting and fax are confirmed separately when they're ready.

Porting timelines by number type
Timelines vary by number type and current carrier. Here's what to expect.
Important: Do not cancel your current phone service before the port completes. Your number must remain active with your current carrier until Zonitel confirms the transfer is done.
What you'll need to port your number
Details must match your current provider's records. Once you have them, our team coordinates the rest.
Current provider account number
Found on your bill or by calling your provider. This is NOT your phone number — it's your account ID.
Account name & service address
The exact account-holder name and the service address on record, including suite and ZIP. A bill may show a different billing address.
A recent bill or account statement
A PDF or photo of your most recent bill. Helps verify account details.
Transfer PIN for mobile numbers
Ask your mobile carrier for the Number Transfer (Port-Out) PIN. It's often different from your account PIN. Remove any number lock first.
Billing telephone number & what stays
Share the account's billing telephone number (BTN) if it differs, and list any numbers or services that stay with your current provider.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does number porting take with Zonitel?▾
Number porting commonly takes 5–10 business days, but timing varies by losing carrier, number type, account validation, and order complexity. Zonitel coordinates the request and keeps you updated.
Will I lose service during the port?▾
Keep your current phone service active until the scheduled cutover. Zonitel coordinates the transfer to minimize interruption, but carrier-controlled timing means uninterrupted service cannot be guaranteed.
Can I port multiple numbers at once?▾
Yes. List every number you want to move, including fax lines, and any numbers that should stay with your current provider. Our porting team coordinates them together; larger multi-number ports can take longer.
Is there a fee to port my number to Zonitel?▾
Number porting is free with any Zonitel plan. There are no porting fees, setup fees, or hidden charges.
What information do I need to port my number?▾
You'll need the account number from your current provider, the exact account-holder name, the service address on record (it can differ from your billing address), and a recent bill. Mobile numbers also need a Number Transfer PIN from your carrier. Zonitel's team sends the authorization (LOA) for the account holder to sign.
Can I port a toll-free number?▾
Yes. Zonitel supports porting of toll-free prefixes including 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, and 833. Toll-free ports commonly take 5–10 business days and can require a specific authorization form, so tell us at the start if a number is toll-free.
What if my port request is rejected?▾
Rejections usually come from a detail that doesn't match the current provider's records, such as the account number, name, service address, transfer PIN, or a number lock. We tell you the exact reason, you confirm the correct detail with your provider, and we update and resubmit the request at no additional cost. Keep your service active in the meantime.
When should I cancel my old phone service?▾
Only after Zonitel confirms the transfer is complete and your test calls work. Cancelling early can disconnect the number before it moves. Porting a number doesn't always close the whole account, so ask your old provider which services and charges remain.
Can I start using Zonitel before my number moves?▾
Yes. Ask for a temporary Zonitel number and forward calls to it from your current provider, so you can set up and test greetings, business hours, and routing while the port is pending. Forwarding calls doesn't move texts or fax.
Your number. Your brand. On Zonitel.
Don't let your phone number hold you back from switching to a better system. We'll port it for free.
