Call Waiting
A feature that alerts you to an incoming call while you are already on an active call, allowing you to switch between them.
Call waiting notifies a user of an incoming call while they are already engaged in another conversation. The notification is typically an audible tone, a visual indicator on the phone display, or both. The user can choose to place the current call on hold and answer the new one, ignore the new call, or send it directly to voicemail.
For businesses, call waiting prevents calls from going unanswered simply because an extension is in use. In a VoIP environment, call waiting behavior can be configured per extension — agents in high-volume queues might disable it to avoid interruptions, while a receptionist handling multiple lines might have it always active.

When a second call arrives, the softphone app displays the incoming caller ID alongside the active call, giving the user full context before deciding how to handle the interruption.
